#socialmediasplit

Not an official site of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

#socialmediasplit is a simple way of sharing experiences between members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the Church's full-time missionaries.

Traditionally, the word "split" is used when both members of a companionship of missionaries - two elders or two sisters - pairs up with a member of the church for visits, teaching or service.

For example, on a Thursday evening, two young sister missionaries might meet with two women from their local ward (congregation) to "split" up and do the work of two companionships instead of one. However, the term is also often used to describe any occasion when a local member of the Church teams up with full-time missionaries for a hour, an afternoon or even a full-day.

When members and missionaries work side-by-side, members sometimes use Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and other tools to share appropriate, uplifting photos or video of their experiences using the hashtag #socialmediasplit

This hashtag is a church member-generated idea and is not an official program of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The Church is not responsible for any content that appears using this hashtag.
